MAR Ventures + Remessa Online - Latam Fintech

Role
Content Manager / UX Writer
Timeline
2018 - 2019
Location
São Paulo, Brazil
The Role
I essentially started my career at MAR Ventures, a venture capital firm focused on funding and accelerating Latin American fintech startups. MAR began as a “venture builder”, where resources and talent were shared among early-stage portfolio companies until they reached a certain size.
This operating model increased efficiency by socializing costs and knowledge across MAR’s ventures. As the Content Marketing Manager, my role was to support MAR’s portfolio companies and help them set up their marketing operations.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Support: Streamlined the production of marketing collateral, managed social media profiles, and wrote copy for videos, emails, landing pages, social content, and ads.
Event Production: Helped organize "Mar Experience", an event where entrepreneurs and policymakers discussed blockchain technology’s transformative potential.
Ghostwriting: Authored articles for MAR’s founder, Alexandre Liuzzi, including one on the fintech landscape in Brazil, highlighting why financial services in the country were primed for disruption.
Companies Supported
Finpass: A startup focused on loans for SMBs.
Modiax: A crypto exchange (acquired by Foxbit).
Remessa Online: A cross-border payment platform (acquired by Ebanx).

Transition to Remessa Online
MAR eventually shifted from its hands-on venture builder model to a more traditional VC approach. As a result, I was reallocated to a full-time role as a UX Writer at Remessa Online, MAR’s most successful venture at the time.
While I later found the scope of a UX Writer too narrow for my interests, the role was a worthwhile experience. It involved user research, usability testing, wireframing, and microcopy revision — skills I would later use extensively as a Product Marketing Manager.
Key Projects and Contributions
Revamping B2B Invoicing and Payment Flows
I spent much of my time revamping B2B invoicing and cross-border payment flows. This involved replacing offline workflows handled by customer support with self-serve UI, drastically reducing the time spent by the CS team on operational tasks.

Currency Conversion Landing Pages
I collaborated closely with designer Bruno Lucini to create a series of landing pages that displayed the conversion rates for different currencies. The goal was to improve Remessa’s SEO and create pages that functioned as a “lead magnets”. Although I left the company before the designs were fully implemented, the landing pages we designed are still live today: Remessa Online Currency Conversion Page.

Transition to Passfolio
After gaining valuable experience at Remessa Online and seeing it grow from stratup to scaleup, I left the company in September 2019 to launch a US stock and crypto trading app called Passfolio, where I took on a broader role as Marketing Lead.
Remessa Online was eventually acquired by Ebanx for $229M. Today it is one of the largest cross-border payment platforms in Latin America and its services have been integrated into the Nubank app.
